On October 19 The Mandate Press opened their doors for a special gallery event featuring curated works, all letterpressed in-house, from designers, illustrators, hand-letterers, print-makers and tattooers. Joan Hiller is a Brooklyn-based artist that’s elbows deep in the indie music industry. Her work has graced album covers from Laura Gibson, Dave Depper, and now, the great Ben Gibbard - you know, the lead singer of Death Cab For Cutie. Gibbard’s debut solo release hits iPods around the world today, but you may want to opt for the LP version to get Joan’s art in the larger 12x12 format. The music may be great, but Hiller’s art makes this album worth framing.
