Salt Lake City fiesta - This week!

This week thousands of people will visit our Utah peaks and valleys for the likes of Sundance, Outdoor Retailers, or a bunch of other conferences, just in time to experience our record cold temperatures. Adding to the action, Big Cartel is hosting a little meet-up at our new office so locals and out-of-towners can unite over a plate of famous local cuisine, Red Iguana.

In addition to Mexican food and margaritas, we’ll be talking shop, giving away a bunch of goodies, and, for the early birds, we’ll have some priceless one-on-one time with BC staff to talk about specific questions/issues you’ve got for your shop.

Cause for Paws

Here at Big Cartel, we’ve got a soft spot for our four-legged friends. As part of our busy weekend, we had a chance to help a few animals in need while promoting affordable art for a really good cause. The 3rd annual Howl-O-Ween Benefit helped to raise funds so CFPU can keep helping sweet lil’ critters who need it most. Aren’t they just the best?

Mini Maker Faire

This weekend we put on our fall hoodies and made our way out to SLC’s first ever Mini Maker Faire. We saw crafters, tinkerers, and artists all get their make on in the name of creation. We loved being a part of Salt Lake City’s inaugural faire, and left the event with our creative juices flowing. For those of you not in Utah, check out the Mini Maker Faire map to find an event in your town, or even start your own!

Join the Maker Movement

The Maker Movement is full of crafters, educators, tinkerers, authors, artists, sewers, performers, hobbyists, and other creators of all kinds. Sounds like you, right? Well, thankfully Make Magazine has created the Maker Faire, all with the purpose of gathering Makers to inspire, educate, and entertain the curious-minded. It’s amazing!

If you think you might fit the expansive Maker criteria, and you’re interested in sharing your talents, then find a Maker Faire near you and sign up! Don’t see one nearby? No sweat, just make your own!

If you’re a lucky local in Salt Lake City, sign up and join us at the inaugural SLC Maker Faire on Saturday, October 6. There’s no cost to have a Maker booth and you’ll spend the day surrounded by creative folks, just like you. As an added bonus you’ll get a killer gift bag courtesy of Big Cartel. Hop to it and sign up! Let’s show the world how inspiring Big Cartelers can be!
