BC: Can you tell us about Sketch&Stitch?
S&S: Sketch&Stitch launched in April 2012 and was a rebrand and relaunch of my previous clothing line SeamlessApparel which launched late 2011. I first began work on SeamlessApparel when I was 14 years old after trying to find something to focus on and to utilise my passion for design. Clothing seemed perfect to do so! Being a teenager, I already had a keen interest in fashion and after working on a few tee designs, SeamlessApparel soon launched! SeamlessApparel had two small lines before the rebranding in April launched with a range of products from tees and hoodies to notebooks and mugs.
BC: And you’re just a teenager, right!? How is it running Sketch&Stitch at such a young age?
S&S: Yes - I am 16 years old, but to me, my age shouldn’t be a factor in whether someone likes Sketch&Stitch or not. I want people to say that Sketch&Stitch is an awesome clothing line that just happens to be run by a teenager, without having my age being a prominent factor of the brand.
BC: Are you in retail shops, or online only?
S&S: We are currently looking into working with some retail stores to get Sketch&Stitch’s items stocked around the world. At the moment we are starting to look and discuss with possible stores but are always on the look out for new stores.
BC: What are some of your design inspirations at the moment?
S&S: My design inspirations seem to change daily! I really enjoy seeing how different designers work - how they set out about to produce their best work. Right now I am really interested in packaging design (Lovely Package and The Dieline) and architecture (Deezen and Contemporist) - but who knows what will inspire me tomorrow?
BC: Can you tell us about any plans you’re working on for the future of Sketch&Stitch?
S&S: All I can say is that the second line is in the works now - you will have to wait to find out more!
BC: How did you come to use Big Cartel to power your shop? How has your experience with Big Cartel been?
S&S: Big Cartel has been brilliant. It has provided me with a platform to launch without all the hassle I originally expected when opening an online store. I had the original SeamlessApparel website up and running within minutes! When first looking for a platform to power the store, I did lots of research, and Big Cartel just kept on coming up. It seems to be the perfect option!
