Playlist: Slow Down, Summer

Summer’s arrival feels like a collective celebration. Everyone’s excited and ready.

We soak up its sunshine and curse its heat. We plan adventures and relish the long days and cool(er) nights. We stay up past our bedtimes. We frolic in fields and rejoice in water. We attend every BBQ and dine on every patio possible. We lay in front of our fans and air conditioning and indulge in every popsicle we come across. We ride bikes, enjoy leisurely strolls, and hike our dang hearts out. We lounge in hammocks and pack picnics. We do our best to make the most of it.

The start of summer is intense and frenetic. That energy slowly fades over the course of a few months as we nurse our sunburned skin, try to stay hydrated, and prepare for fall. This playlist was my attempt at capturing that feeling, the overarching essence that makes summer feel like a not-so-distant dream.
